For agromed, sustainability is more than a vision. It is anchored in our founding concept and in the products that are based on wood, a natural and renewable raw material.

Wood-based products: a sustainable basis

Our production process is part of the Circular Economy. The timber industry harvests trees for wood processing. We refine the by-products created from the freshly felled wood and create feed additives for livestock.

We work very closely with our partner Westerkamp. The wood we use comes from PEFC certified forests. Without any further additives, the wood is ground into high-quality feed additives in a special process. Even here, our partner pays attention to sustainability (ISO certificate 14001 = probably the most important environmental management certificate worldwide). The processes are certified according to various environmental guidelines, for example in order to keep the CO2 footprint of the production for example as small as possible. This enables us to keep the CO2 footprint of our products very low. OptiCell® for example, has an ecological carbon foot print 168 g CO2 /kg of product (from origin to factory gate).

Our bagged goods are packed in paper bags. These are biodegradable.

Active climate protection: agromed works climate neutral

In order to protect the climate, economy and society have to become climate neutral. Since March 2020, we are working in a CO2-neutral manner. But for agromed, climate neutral is not enough. Climate Positive is better. Therefore, we have gone one step further and since the beginning of 2021, agromed has been acting climate-positive. We compensate more greenhouse gases than we cause. We give a piece back to nature!

With respect for: people, environment and animals

We know that climate protection is not enough. So sustainability has to be reflected in our strategy, our processes, the organization and in the actions of our employees. In order to drive sustainability forward in a targeted manner, we have anchored the topic strategically in our company and installed a sustainability management system.  In mid-2021, we began actively working on our sustainability strategy. In a multi-stage process, we derived possible measures together with the entire workforce. In our CSR core team, we have formulated concrete measures and provided them with a timeline. We will actively start implementing these from 2022.

As part of our sustainability strategy, we see seven core challenges in which agromed plans to make significant contributions. agromed is setting ambitious goals to further strengthen its path to a sustainable future. These core areas contribute to selected development goals of the United Nations:

  • Product-Development
  • Employees
  • Supply Chain
  • Anti-Corruption & Compliance
  • Economy & Finance

We have implemented the fields of action listed here in our corporate strategy. Through targeted measures, we will "fill these fields of action with life" and actively integrate sustainability into the management process.
